The man with the toffee tone
The man behind ctraltu is Thomas Steffen, a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist from germany. The sound of ctraltu is based on a mute trumpet sound whispering through the modern style tracks - most of the music sounds electric but is played on acoustic instruments.
Ctraltu
The heart is sound. At its core, the trumpet. Most of it was recorded in a single take. The mixing adds pedals, reverbs, and delays to create what I call ctraltu. The meaning of ctraltu is inspired by a picture series from an American painter – American icons on driftwood: Go (ctrl) – move (alt) – and turn (u).
